SAT TEST  Januy 23 Test Date:  Regular deadline to register is December 15.
        March 13 Test Date:    Regular deadline to register is February 4.
                         Test location is Pittsfield High school.
                                      Free and reduced lunch students are entitled to waive SAT fees.
                                      See your Guidance Counselor for fee waiver.

                                 
BCC Instant Admission Day at Taconic is Friday, January 15th.  Meet with a BCC Admissions Representative and receive a certificate of acceptance immediately.  Application fee is waived.  You must submit a completed BCC application  and a transcript  release  form  to  Guidance  by January  8th.  Sign up in Guidance.

Hudson Valley Community College Instant Admission Day at Taconic is January 27th.  Application fee is waived.  You must submit a completed HVCC application, immunization records and a transcript release form to Guidance by January 20th.  Sign up in Guidance.

Massachusetts College  of Liberal Arts is  hosting a  FAFSA  Night  at  MCLA, on  Monday,  January 11th, 6:00 pm – 8:30 pm.  You can receive free, one-on-one assistance from local financial aid administrators in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).  Come to Guidance for more information.

College Goal Sunday will be Sunday, January 31 at 12:00 pm.  at the Intermodal Education Center, One Columbus Avenue, 2nd Floor, in Pittsfield.  College goal Sunday is a volunteer-driven effort to provide FREE assistance to students and families seeking help to complete a FAFSA.  Register now at www.masscollegegoalsunday.org or call 877-4CGSMAS.  Come to Guidance for more information.


KFC Colonel's Scholars Program is looking for seniors with financial need and an entrepreneurial
 spirit to qualify for their scholarship. To be eligible you must:
   1.     Have a minimum GPA of 82.
   2.     Enroll in a public college of university within your state of legal residence.
   3.     Pursue a bachelor's degree.
   4.     Be a U.S. citizen or permanent resident.
   5.     Demonstrate financial need.

Big Y is offering their Big Y Scholarship to the most academically outstanding students in the Big Y market area.  Must be in the top 10 percent of the class.  Must have transcript, college boards if taken, at least two letters of recommendation and a personal resume/activity sheet.  Deadline is January 15th.


 AXA Achievement Scholarship – To be eligible, seniors must:

1.    Have outstanding achievement in activities in school and the community.
2.     Be recommended in by an unrelated adult professional who can attest to your achievement.
 3.    Describe in detail an outstanding achievement you have accomplished in a nonacademic
        activity or project. The activity can occur in the school, community or workplace.
4.   You must see your Guidance Counselor before applying online at:

 Mensa Education and Research Foundation—Local Scholarship Program:  For seniors who will be enrolled in an accredited U.S. institution of post secondary education.  Awards are based on an essay of fewer than 550 words which describes the applicant’s career, vocational or academic goal for which assistance is sought.  To download complete rules and an entry form by zip code, visit  http://www.mensafoundation.org/scholarships and all entries must be postmarked by January 4th.
      
2010 John F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Essay Contest invites U.S. high school students to write an original essay on the political courage of a U.S. elected official.  For contest information, registration and to submit you essay online, visit the Profile in Courage Award Program at www.jfklibrary.org and register online.    Deadline is January 4th.


The Henry David Thoreau Foundation is offering a scholarship for seniors with strong academic qualifications and a commitment to the environmental field.  The application deadline is January 15th.  For more information and to download an application go to www.thoreauscholar.org
