American Legion Americanism Scholarship


A $500 scholarship available to a Berkshire County high school senior planning to attend college in the fall. An essay  on "WHAT VETERANS' DAY MEANS TO ME" and a biography of the applicant are required.

Girl's Inc. of the Berkshires Scholarship
This year eight $1000 scholarships will be awarded. All are need based and income eligibility is required. Essay required

Graduating female seniors must have a GPA of 2.80, must have demonstrated extraordinary initiative, energy, and creativity in community service (with particular emphasis on service to disadvantaged members of the Berkshire community) or the application will not be considered. Applicnts for the BCCF, MCLA and WSC scholarships must indicate they are attending the respective college to receive the scholarship.

National CO-OP Scholarship Program
The scholarship is open to high school seniors planning to attend one of the following schools: Drexel University, Johnson & Wales University, Kettering University, Pace University, Rochester Institute of Technology, University of Cincinnati, University of Toledo and Wentworth Institute of Technology.
National CO-OP Scholarship Program will award merit scholarships totaling $4.2,000,000. The National Commission encourages minority and female students as well as students interested in science, mathematics, engineering and technology to apply for this merit co-op scholarship.
Students must have high school GPA of 3.5 or better and include a typed one-page essay (500 words or less) describing why you have chosen to pursue a college cooperative education program. The scholarship and essay can be submitted on line at www.co-op.edu or mailed to National Commission for Cooperative Education, 350 Huntington Ave., 384 CP
Boston, MA. 02115-5096. No transcripts or recommendations are required.

Father Robert F. Wagner Memorial Scholarship
Two $1000 scholarships will be awarded to high school seniors who are residents of Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin or Berkshire County. Students must demonstrate either an intention to pursue a degree and a career dedicated to serving persons with disabilities, or be a person with a disability seeking to further his or her education.

Order Sons of Italy Grand Lodge of  Mass. Scholarship




Scholarships available to students attending a 4-year college (including vocational and/or technical. Scholarships will be awarded on the basis of scholastic ability, character and activities. Some of the scholarships are reserved for the children and grandchildren of the Lodge, and some will be warded to students without affiliation. All students are encouraged to apply.

SAMMY 2010 Scholarship




This is the 13th annual "Scholar Athlete Milk Mustache of the Year Award." High school seniors with a GPA of 3.20 or higher and who participates in a high school sport or club sport during the 2009-2010 school year. Applicants will be required to write an essay of no more than 250 words about  "How Milk has helped in My academics and/or Athletics." 25 students will receive a $7500 scholarship. Scholarships ranging from $3000 to $10,000 yearly, the award is renewable for up to 4 years. Applicants should have a GPA of 3.0 or higher, be enrolled in a demanding course of study and  demonstrate skilled writing ability. Students should have substantial financial need. The Ann S. Fischer Memorial  Scholarship was endowed by friends, family, and fellow members of the Pittsfield Federation of Educational Secretaries. Anne was a former secretary in the Pittsfield Public Schools for 39 years, serving as secretary to six Superintendents.Applicants must be a current senior attending Pittsfield or Taconic High School, planning to enter a two or four-year college or technical school in the fall and majoring in Legal/Para Legal, Secretarial, or Business fields. IEEE High School Science Writing Contest
IEEE (Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers). The contest is conducted annually to encourage high school students to develop an interest or pursue a career in engineering and science.Two prize divisions will be established: grades 9-10 and gades 11-12. The instructions for the contest have been revised into a "substance" page, which provides guidance to the students for the research and composition of their papers, and a "mechanics" page, which summarizes the requirements for preparing and submitting the papers. Berkshire Bank Foundation 2010 Scholarship






Six  $2,000 scholarships are available in Berkshire County for  seniors attending any high school in Berkshire County. Applicants must have been involved in volunteer activities in the community, involvement in extracurricular school activities and financial need and have a minimum GPA of 3.0. Essay also included in the application. Only 5 applications will be accepted from each high school, so check with your Guidance Dept. to determine if you should apply.

The Pittsfield Cultural Council Arts Scholarship Award/In Memory of Norman Najimy
Senior who has applied for admission into a visual, literary or performing arts program at an accredited institution with grades of 85% or better. Applicants are strongly encouraged to provide a sample of their work (i.e, slides, photographs, audio cassettes, CD's, video, etc).

Scholarships are awarded to high schoool seniors with direct experience with individuals with disabilities who are pursing secondary education in the field of Human services. Selection of award winners will be based upon prior involvement in volunteer or paid activities with individuals with disabilities, potential contribution to the field and academic achievement.

Scholarships up to $2000 to students continuing their careers in the restaurant/food service industry. Eligible students include high school seniors (ProStart or Non-ProStart), be accepted in an accredited restaurant/food service program, have minumum GPA of 2.65, verified culinary or restaurant/food service work experience. New England Patriots Write On Scholarship
All New England students between the ages of 13 and 18 are eligible to enter. Students have a chance to win up to $10,000 through this program.Submit an essay between 750-1,000 words demonstrating your thoughts on the 2009 Patriots season.
Submit a personal statement of no more than 500 words  explaining how this scholarship wiil benfit you as a student. Submit an essay of no more than 1,000 words about the importance of volunteerism and what it means to you.

Price Chopper Golub Foundation 2010 Scholarship Award
Eight different scholarships, students may only apply for one Price Chopper's Golub Foundation Scholarship. You do not have to work for Price Chopper to apply. Applicant must plan to attend an accredited two or four-year college or university in NY, MA, PA, VT, CT or NH. An original essay of no more than 1000 words should be included with the student educational history, activity profile and  3 letters of recommendation. The application form should be filled in online. Students  should read the qualifications for each one carefully before deciding which to apply for.

The Willem Willeke Memorial Scholarship Program
Seniors who are students of violin, viola, or cello who are serious in their intent to pursue a professional career in music. Must submit a 300-500 word essay containing biographical material, reasons why she/he desires the award and how it will be used. Greater Boston  PFLAG  (Parents, Families, and Friends of Lesbians & Gays) offers ‘Elsie Frank Scholarships’ to seniors who will enroll in a two or four year college or tech/voc school in 2010.
