The Pittsfield Adult Learning Center has an active Volunteer Program. The program strengthens and expands the Pittsfield Adult Learning Center's capacity to meet the needs of its learners.

Volunteers who want to be involved in helping students learn English, prepare for the GED or high school diploma, or improve their basic skills such as reading, mathematics or writing are welcome.

Volunteers work with teachers in the classroom, work individually with students, or help with preparing materials for students and staff.

We expect our volunteers to want to help adults and older adolescents to learn. We provide a safe school environment with training and on ongoing support from our Volunteer Coordinator and staff. Most volunteers commit themselves for a school year. Because we are part of the Pittsfield Public Schools all volunteers must pass a CORI (Criminal Offender Record Investigation) check.
